A lovely discovery of about 150 plants collected in 1832 by Mrs Tate. Her daughter wrote to Portsmouth Museum on 11 November 2024 saying: "I have a very interesting herbarium of dried plants collected by my late mother in Portsea Island in 1832." She later went on to say: "As Portsea Island is now quite covered with houses and Southsea Common levelled, very few if any, will now be found in their old habitat."
This plant, Lesser Sea-Spurrey, Arenaria marina (now Spergularia marina), was found at Southsea.
